The Project consists of construction works to attain a bridge across Paira River, on the National Highway (N8) between Barisal and Patuakhali Districts at Lebukhali Ferry ghat. The bridge which is about 1470m long including a viaduct 840m long and 19.76m wide consist of 4 lanes. The Project shall consist of the following components: (a) civil engineering works for the construction of the bridge substructure (piles, piers, and abutments) and bridge superstructure, including its drainage facilities, electrical facilities, safety measures, in addition to river training works of about 1000 meters, toll plaza facilities and environmental protection works; (b) approach roads which are about one kilometer long on both ends of the bridge and 14.6m wide asphalted carriageways; and (c) consultancy services for the preparation of the detailed engineering design, tender documents, and supervision of construction. The Project is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. Total cost is estimated about 1.46 Billion Taka, equivalent to about K.D. 19.5 million
